You want your clients to have the best possible chance of settling at mediation, to avoid the costs and uncertainties of a court hearing. I am experienced in representing parties at mediations in many types of disputes.
As a nationally accredited mediator, I am able to mediate in all commercial/general disputes, wills and estates disputes, and family law property disputes.
I hold mediator qualifications from Bond University (2001) and QUT (2021).
Before the National Mediator Accreditation system commenced, I was a mediator approved by the Queensland Law Society, and also by the Supreme Court under the provisions of the UCPR that then existed.
I have honed my mediation skills over many years, including by observing and participating in mediations conducted by some of the most in-demand and renowned mediators of our time, including multiple mediations conducted by retired High Court Justice Ian Callinan and also Ian Hanger QC.
In one set of mediations before Ian Hanger QC, I represented clients who were suing a city council and others in relation to damage to their house that was alleged to have been caused by drainage works carried out on their land. The first mediation was unsuccessful. We proceeded to a second mediation many months later. That mediation was successful, resulting in a creative outcome whereby the city council agreed to buy the damaged house from my clients.
At one of my mediations before Ian Callinan, I was actually the client. I was represented by counsel in relation to my Supreme Court action against the Legal Services Commissioner for malicious prosecution and abuse of process. That mediation was successful and the LSC settled my claim on confidential terms with a written acknowledgement that the proceedings against me should never have been brought.
